Privacy policy

Introduction

Move (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a mobile application for recording, reviewing, retracing, and replaying personal trips. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Information we collect

• Location data: precise location during an active recording, including while Move is minimised and its trip-tracking notification remains visible.
• Trip data: route points, start and end locations, distance, duration, speed, timestamps, movement type, and notes you choose to add.
• Connection and device information: network requests to map, backup, and sharing services may include your IP address and technical device information.
• Google account information: only if you choose to connect Google Drive for backup. Move uses the access needed to store and sync your trip data in your personal Drive.

How we use information

Move uses this information to record trips, calculate distance and duration, display history and route analytics, provide retrace and replay features, and support optional backup and trip sharing.

Storage and sharing

Trips are stored locally on your device by default. If you enable Google Drive backup, copies are uploaded to your personal Google Drive account. If you choose to share a trip, Move encrypts the trip on your device and uploads the encrypted copy to our sharing service so a recipient with the link and separate code can open it. The sharing service receives the encrypted data, not the decryption code. Shared trips are submitted with a 24-, 36-, or 72-hour expiry choice and are requested for removal after the recipient opens them.

Map screens request tiles from OpenStreetMap or, in configured builds, CARTO. Those requests expose network information and the map area being viewed to the tile provider. We do not sell your location history. Information goes to Google, map providers, the sharing service, or a recipient only when needed for a feature you use.

Security, retention, and deletion

Network connections to backup, map, and sharing services use HTTPS. Shared trip content is encrypted before upload. You can delete saved trips in the app, disconnect Google Drive backup, and remove local app data by uninstalling. Backups already in your Google Drive remain under your control there. Shared links expire according to the selected duration; ask us at [email protected] if you need help with stored sharing data.

Location services

Location access is required for trip tracking and retrace guidance. You control this access through your device settings. Disabling location access prevents Move from recording or guiding a trip. Location accuracy depends on your device, permissions, and available GPS signal.

Your choices and rights

• View your saved trip history in the app.
• Delete trip history at any time.
• Disable location tracking through device permissions.
• Disconnect Google Drive backup through Settings.
• Uninstall Move to remove locally stored app data from your device.

Children’s privacy

Move is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date above will change when the policy is revised. Continued use of Move after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
